Are you hiring?

We are about to announce a brand new need for a new Studio Management intern. If you have excellent organizational skills and are interested in this position, please submit a cover letter and resume to our studio .

In general, we offer 1-2 internship opportunities each year and are always happy to review portfolios of talented second shooters. Due to the growth of our business lines, we will be seeking one more Associate Photographer in late 2011.  If you have a strong portfolio, have at least three years of hands-on photography experience, and would like to be considered for a future opportunity with our studio, please submit your resume and portfolio to our studio. Tamara

I’m just starting out – what would you suggest for me?

We hear this question a lot.  First of all, huge kudos to you for following your dream!  We all start there, and committing to your passion is definitely the first step.  Secondly, I would suggest that you get as educated as possible - not just about the technical specifics of photography (although that is key), but also about how to run your business, how to market yourself intelligently, and how to get smart about treating your clients with the genuine respect they deserve for choosing to do business with you. A strong website is key, as is investing in fast glass and quality photography equipment. Tamara

What kind of studio do you have? How big? Do you think I need a studio?

We do have a beautiful commercial space studio, across from Southpoint Mall, a beautiful indoor/outdoor mall in North Carolina. Our space is about 2100 square feet and is designed in an open plan, complete with work areas, restroom/changing room, a shooting area that is fully customizable for our needs, a viewing area, meeting area, and a busy workroom. As to whether or not you need one outside of your home is a personal decision and often has more to do with the type of business you're operating and the balance you are looking to achieve between your work and your home life. Do you offer portfolio reviews or image critiques?

Yes, by appointment.  See our photographer's products page for details. Tamara
