Thanks, Roman. As my brother, I will take to heart your fabulous advice. You have a unique ability to inspire people to do what they want in life years after they’ve already decided to take that path :)

It’s no secret that I am partial, but even I am astounded by the emotive beauty in your work. I love taking a break during a hectic day and checking out the latest and greatest on your blog. It’s like a mini-spa for my brain.

The new blog is great. I’m so glad you have this set up. I’m supposed to be working right now, but instead I’m browsing your work. This is becoming a serious habit. Hope everyone is well!

  • Beth Carlton says:

You did it! You captured who Alex and Jackie really are. Right now. Since the photos are from around our own home, each reflects so many memories… playing in the backyard, reading on the porch-swing, making music, jumping on the bed, and even tearfully recovering from a boo-boo. The images are priceless. And the session was so much fun!

Tamara, I’m just getting into photography and never realized how much I would love it. The passion and art that each and every picture shows. I joined NILMDTS and found your site through there. Your images are amazing, your style is wonderful. I’ve been working on a website/blog but I know I still have a long way to go. Any suggestions you have would be wonderful for someone just really getting started!

Tamara–We were at your parents last night and saw some of the photos that you had taken of your children–just breathtaking photos–you certainly have been given such a gift for capturing the spirit of each individual in your photos. I call your mother "my angel." Little did we know that she would have a room devoted entirely to angels! The next time that you are in Columbus, we would love to have you take some casual photographs of our daughter Stefanie. A modeling agency contacted us last night (from the Miss Ohio/USA Pagaent) and of course they want to take photos–how interesting that we had just been to your parents home and saw your incredible work–I only hope that we can afford you!! All the best, Karen and Bryan Bragg

Very impressive, Mrs Lackey. But then…I would expect nothing less from someone of your caliber. (By caliber I mean both the size of your camera and the high quality of your character; two meanings of the word ‘caliber’–its a homonym).

I knew you guys would love Ana Elise. She is such a sweet little girl. We are so happy that you guys are with her. Hang in there and enjoy the ride. Now that we are home we are realizing what a gift the time is that you have with your child while in Cuenca. Life just seems to pass so quickly back home. Looking forward to seeing Noah Alfonso’s drawings. Thank you for taking those for us. If you get a chance can you take a picture of the orphanage (at least the outside) we forgot and I really want to save that for Noah’s baby book?

    Lots of Hugs,

I ‘ve never posted on a photographer’s blog, but felt compelled today. It was by pure fate I purchased your book today which I now realize by reading your blog that it just came out. It caught my eye as I was in the camera store purchasing a background. I mostly shoot wedding photography, but have been feeling the nudge toward shooting children. Your book came at a perfect time. You are truly inspiring. I zoomed through your book…it was excellent. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge and insight about photography and life. I’m so happy to have met you today.

Loved the DVD clip at Imaging! Marketing idea-have a point and shoot on hand for kids to use when you are shooting their siblings so they can "help". They might get some interesting shots of you too! You can give them the images to them at the end.

Widen your mind with Tamara Lackey’s child photography DVD. Provide yourself with the knowledge and ability to step out of your box and into the child’s world to make you a pronounced child photographer. Giggles and grins guarantee you the road map to success.

your platform class was by far the most instructive and helpful. thank you for sharing your personality and authentic self and how you handle family shoots particularly. you are a master at juggling people and making everyone enjoy your company. so impressed! seriously.
love your book and looking forward to your DVD.
question from the platform class slideshow you shared: the song you said was heartbeats? do you have an artist or location for where i can find it. that song really knocked my socks off–along with your work of course :) hope you can get this. i’d love to know the artist of that song and if i heard the title correctly. many many thanks tamara! you rock.

    Tamara

Thank you so much for being such a unique person. I am just a beginner going on 6 months now and am still trying to figure out how to portray my style. And still learning about my camera, most things I understood and didn’t go over my head and at the same time learned SO MUCH. I LOVED your class and seeing how you interact with your little clients, your voice didn’t annoy me at all. :) I can’t wait to aspire to what you have accomplished in my own way!

I would have commented on your recent post but there seems to be no place to comment — so I place it here. What a great and very candid interview with Crash – so entertaining — and the image of your daughter and her friend in the orphanage are so emotive. Thank you for sharing.

love your website/blog. i’ve been meaning to ask: who is the artist behind the music on your baby & child gallery, tamara? the song starts out:
you’re going to make some mistakes, sometimes, sometimes. . .

I’ve recently read your book and was tremendously inspired by it (I wrote about it on my blog: http://wickysticket.blogspot.com/2010/03/markers-of-ones-existence.html
This interview was great as I was able to learn even more.
I have a question though: do you style your subjects when you photograph them? Do you tell them what to wear, etc?
I look forward to getting your DVD one of these days!
    You are truly an inspiration.

Wow. You have taken some amazing photographs! I love the one in your baby gallery where the baby is looking at and holding his feet. I recently published a book that contains some great stock photos of babies (Goodnight Fingers, Goodnight Toes – NectarPress.com) and after having sifted through literally thousands of stock photos looking for the right ones, I’m kind of hard to please! You have an amazing gift. I wish I could hire you to photograph my three second-graders!!!
