I absolutely love in-home newborn sessions. It’s a great opportunity to capture your baby in his or her first home, with first blankets, hats, and even nurseries. All I need is a blank wall near a window (a sliding glass door is even better) and we’re all set.
This little man’s family had just the spot in their living room – gorgeous wood floors right next to a sliding glass door. We moved a rug and a basket of big brother’s toys and books out of the way, and we were good to go. Abel was a dream to photograph – he was nice and sleepy, and really loved snuggling down in the baskets and buckets I brought along to his session. His mama calls him her little pumpkin, so we made sure to incorporate the adorable pumpkin hat into a few images.
I also love creating portraits in the master bedroom – there’s almost always great light (although it was super cloudy on this day, so we supplemented with some studio lighting), and the big king or queen size bed makes a perfect backdrop for simple, sweet newborn portraits that really keep the focus of the image on your precious new arrival.
