Tamara Lackey is a renowned professional photographer, Nikon USA Ambassador, non-profit leader, and public speaker. She has photographed a series of commercial and marketing campaigns for Nikon and was selected to present her work on stage as part of the Nikon Global Launch Event in Tokyo, helping to introduce their first new line of ground-breaking mirrorless camera systems in history.
Tamara speaks at a range of programs, seminars and conventions on the power of photography to create real change, presenting at Google, Disney, CES, Photo Plus Expo, Harvard and more. She also leads photography adventure workshops around the world and is the author of nine books, several of which have been translated into multiple languages. Her Capturing Life Through (Better) Photography™ won the Booklist Editors’ Choice Award in Media and her latest publication is The Posing Playbook.
Tamara is the Executive Director of Beautiful Together, a 501(c)(3) non-profit she co-founded in 2014 that is focused on connecting animals in need of refuge with children living in under-resourced to benefit both populations. Strongly focused on conservation practices, education, and animal welfare advocacy, the sanctuary is currently being built out on 83 acres of land in Chapel Hill, North Carolina with a notable emphasis on sustainability and environmental stewardship. In keeping with her passion for conservation and animal welfare advocacy, Tamara also created Coco Bistro & Bar (cocochapelhill.com), an award-winning plant-based restaurant in North Carolina that serves “Seriously Delicious Foods That Take Less From Our Planet”.
Tamara has co-produced and hosted multiple live broadcasts for creativeLIVE and other livecast media and hosted her popular web series, The reDefine Show, for seven years. Her most recent show, The Chasing Frames Show with Tamara Lackey focuses on capturing experiences and adventures through photography and is broadcast on PBS North Carolina and PBS.org
In addition to being a Nikon Ambassador, Tamara also has the distinction of being recognized as an ON1 Guru, is part of the Think Tank Pro Team and is an OWC Ambassador. She, her husband, their children and their active cadre of pets live in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
