Christi-Ann & Robert

I was initially planning to meet Christi-Ann and Robert in Greenville, South Carolina for their engagement shoot. They wanted to use the fabulous open park downtown as a backdrop to best showcase their relationship. We ended up having to postpone due to weather, and they decided to travel up to the Triangle instead. We started our shoot early, and I’m so glad that we did. We practically had the entire park to ourselves, which made for easy impromptu clothing changes out & about 🙂 I had sensed right away that Christ-Ann was upbeat and up-for-anything, but I wasn’t quite sure about Robert. He seemed a bit quiet during our initial meeting. But when we were just running around out & about, he was totally in his element. (don’t know *that* many men who would call a bridal consult meeting “their element”!). But I got to discover his fantastic sense of humor, and I got a wonderful sense for how much he enjoyed his time with Christi-Ann and the feel of the beautiful morning. One of the reasons I love engagement sessions is that, as a photographer, I get a great opportunity to really see how two people fit together, what emotions & experience thread them together and how much affection they feel comfortable showing for each other. There are about 10 other reasons – including the luxury of forgetting about any timeline – but this first reason is a powerful chance to know your subjects and be able to internalize that emotion when shooting the wedding day. Given the time we spend together for this engagement session, I’m truly looking forward to seeing more of Christ-Ann & Robert together!
