Image X has been a huge success, what a fun experience! I will post more about just how cool New Orleans has been and the luckiness I feel at having so many wonderful friends in the industry, esp. the few goofballs that elevate the hilarity level 😉 But I wanted to show a few images from the shooting workshop. It’s always so interesting to shoot with a group of photographers – it’s an exercise first and foremost in teaching: expressing exactly what you’re doing and why you’re doing it and being as open to any question that might come across as possible. In addition, though, I am always trying to seek out strange and difficult lighting or location problems to show how we can work with those in a successful way. But then there’s also the fact that you’re actively shooting subjects and you want to be present to the gorgeous, sweet little models who are pretty brave to be photographed by 20 people at once! So, all in all, a lot going on… The coolest part of this shoot, specifically, for me was that a tiny salamander jumped up on my camera and hung out on the top of my lens with me while I was shooting for a couple minutes. Talk about the ultimate attention-getter. If anyone from the workshop has a photograph of that, please send to me!! Would love to show that! (And, even better, figure out a way to train one to come out on shoots with me all the time 🙂 Here’s a fun glimpse at just a few of the images captured while shooting in that cool courtyard at the sonesta, in the french quarter…. (to all the moms, i have more great photographs! just still down in new orleans and grabbed a few quick ones to show that i’d pulled up for some exercises in editing – more to come to you directly 🙂
