stay with me

There are some images, exchanges, and connections that stay with you long after the session is over. I don’t think I’m alone in this, but I often see photographs I’ve taken just running through my mind, like an ongoing slideshow set to various themes.

Sometimes an image will persist so strongly, I have to go back to the session and look at it again.

I think that one of the most powerful aspects of photography is the ability to seek out, uncover and then capture a specific feeling, expression, emotion. It’s not uncommon to see every emotion in the world run across the face of a child throughout the course of a day. And it’s not like these feelings go away – we still experience them as adults. We’ve just trained ourselves to be less straightforward.

Here’s an image I’ve been thinking about lately …

Yes, Carolyn, she certainly is beautiful. And I think her directness of expression makes her only more so.

one of the things i love about judging print competitions is listening to others give their impressions of what they are seeing/feeling when viewing a print.

it’s pretty extraordinary that 5 people can all look at the same print and see such different things. thanks for sharing some of what you all see šŸ™‚

Amazing image Tamara! To me this girl is brave, decisive and confident under her mother’s ?wing?. It is a great contrast to the way children often photographed on their own?wide-eyed, timid and vulnerable. It speaks volumes about the type of mother this little girl has! šŸ™‚

Hi there this is kind of of off topic but I was wanting to know if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding expertise so I wanted to get advice from someone with experience. Any help would be enormously appreciated!

  46. Jamie says:
